8 October 2013, 10:30 - 13:00
Hall: Tophane Hall

Type: Panel Discussion
Subject: Architecture and Politics, Education of Architecture, Zoning Legislations
Organizers: Arkitera Architecture Center

Architecture is an academic field which should be considered with its education as well. It requires a multidisciplinary vision. It is important to point out a successful academic staff to transfer this vision to the students. Also technical and spatial standarts are very low in general. But what do we really know about architecture schools in Turkey?

Beyond the national scale, recognition and validity of diplomas of Turkish universities is an other subject to be discussed. Even if some faculties have some connections with bilateral agreements and exchange progammes like Erasmus, it is not possible to claim any advancement about it. The main intention of Bologna Declaration -which was released in 1999- is to create a Europe Higher Education Area until 2010. The Turkey in the related context should be talked over.

Within te scope of the workshop, the architecture schools will be discussed in detail. Even if it is not mindful to consider architectural education only by universities, deans and heads of the architecture departments of prominent architecture schools in Turkey will meet in the workshop.
