Architecture in Between Local and Global: A Glocal Perspective
7 October 2013, 12:00 - 13:00
Hall: Eyup Hall

Type: Panel Discussion
Subject: Architectural Theory, Regional Architecture
Organizers: Arkitera Architecture Center

Contemporary phenomena such as urbanisation without any spesific direction, shifting balance of supply and demand and diversified soical fabric caused to explore architecture under different topics. Even if it is possible to list all different topics, concepts of "local" and "global" will be scrutinized within the scope of the panel.

The concept "locality" has been regenerated by the society itself because of the need to re-define a distinct social identity, even when global world occurs and world cities come to the forefront by free market economy. Taking no notice of locality in starchitects' projects all around the world can be considered as a new version of imperialism. However pseudo-localities do disservice to the discourses behind the projects.

Panelist will talk over about where do architects stand on the axis in between local and global related to the architectural culture and production of today and also if they can relocate this axis to diverse platforms.
