Exhibiting Architecture
8 October 2013, 12:00 - 13:00
Hall: Eyup Hall

Type: Panel Discussion
Organizers: Arkitera Architecture Center

VitrA Contemporary Architecture Series, initiated in 2012 by VitrA and the Turkish Association of Architects in Private Practice, aims to document, discuss and provide a platform for new studies in contemporary architecture in Turkey by focusing on different building types. Each year a book is published, and an exhibition and a series of panels are organized. While the book-one of the major components of the project-reveals the determined building type of that year with a comprehensive anthology which is composed of buildings constructed after 2000, the exhibition-other significant component of the project-assesses the type of structure as a conceptual phenomenon. In other words, while the book exhibits architecture, the exhibition fictionalizes the architecture.

The first exhibition of VitrA Contemporary Architecture Series "Happiness Factories" focused on commercial structures (curator: Saitali Köknar), and the second exhibition "Please Do Not Disturb" focused on the concept of holiday (curator: Ertuğ Uçar). The subject of the third exhibition which will be held in 2014 is education (curator: Şebnem Yalınay Çinici). With the moderation of Pelin Derviş-the coordinator of the VitrA Contemporary Architecture Series' exhibitions-curators of the three exhibitions will come together to discuss the issue of ‘exhibiting architecture' through their own experiences.
