After being a students and later assistant professor in Fine Arts Academy of Istanbul, Yanar directed architectural studios in Oxford Brookes University. Later he has run experimental ateliers in some of the leading architectural and art universities in Helsinki and in the city of Tampere. In the year 2010-2012, in Finnish Fine Art Academy, Time and Space Department, he organized classes together with artist Seppo Salminen for Boundaries 1-2. In 2011, Yanar published his first book Muotokuvia (Portraits) in Finnish. In his book, he collected together well-known Finnish Artists and Architects. Juhani Pallasmaa wrote preface for it. Same year, the book Muotokuvia got one of the prize of The Most Beautiful Finnish Books 2011 in Finland. Yanar wrote one of the three articles (the others were Luis Fernandes Galliano, Netta Böök) in the book of Finnish Architectural Biennale selection 2010/2011. For many years he has been one of the columnist in arkitera.com. Over the years, he has also written articles to other Turkish art architectural publications such as Betonart, Rh Sanart and Git.
Yanar participated the exhibition ‘İstanbul Stream and Bridges’ with his piece Father Hagia Sophia in the year 2012 in Kaiku Gallery of Finnish Fine Arts Academy. Recently his texts also were exhibited in the exhibition Two Paths to Silence in Museum Of Finnish Architecture. In this exhibition Finnish artist Jussi Tiainen photographed and Yanar wrote about twelve contemporary Finnish Churches. This duet of an architect and a photographer got a lot of attention in Finnish media. Now he writes the second volume of his book Muotokuvia. Yanar completed two thesis on the concept of rhythm in architecture (Mphil, Oxford Brookes University and PhD, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University). He has an architectural studio, Orpheus North Architects. Yanar was an Associate Professor in architectural department of Dong Eui University, South Korea, Busan in 2013-2014. He got to know the fourth country and a new culture where he worked as an architect and academic. At the moment he lives in Helsinki.
