This talk will examine the internalization process of how we transcend ourselves from subject into an object to understand and know about things surrounding us and how this impact the way we experience urban space today.
Ways of “seen” and “to be seen” evolved in time and this understanding set basis to a more elaborated experience on spatial boundary. We will look to the future of this experience, mainly led with emergence of multimedia and media façades. Through the lens of phenomenology, we will look how enhancing this boundary can capture a sustained attention and how this can intensify the way we interact with the city.
Comparing Taoist Cosmology Essentials and the experience of eastern cities with western culture, we will look into fundamentals on placement of body in nature and how this understanding is carried all the way through how boundary is defined and perceived and how different boundary conditions enable different “atmospheres”, rating the level of intimacy within the city.
